What An Amazing Journey...
I'll never forget the date....January 19, 2007. I was at my desk when I received an email, out of the blue, from my cousin. In a brief letter he outlined his search for our ancestors, his DNA results, and where this new path was leading him in life.
HUH????
I am one to question everything. And so, on that day in the winter of 2007, I began my search to know the truth. At first it began as a query - a query to understand ancestry, to understand DNA, to understand history. But soon it grew - to a desire, to a passion, even to a hunger, to know my family's true story. To know my family that walked before me and gave me the tools to be who I am today. Of course I never knew them, but today I know more about them then the generations before me. This....is genealogy.
What an incredible journey it has been. There have been many pitfalls, lots of obstacles, and some brick walls. Throw in twists and turns and ups and downs, and you can see that I have had an amazing adventure so far. Every day my passion grows, the excitement builds. This journey that I have embarked on will never end. As new information unfolds it leads to more puzzles to be solved. That is the thrill of genealogy. Anyone involved in this "way of life" (not a hobby) knows exactly what I mean.
I am proud to say that all my hard work, the countless hours and dollars spent, the pictures, the documentation, the DNA results, will be my legacy....
passed on to the generations that come after me.
